After it was first teased in April, we’ve now been given a detailed look at Virgil Abloh’s Off-White x Air Jordan 5 “Sail”. Following up February’s “Black Metallic”-esque AJ5 design that debuted at NBA All-Star Weekend, Abloh’s latest take on Michael Jordan’s fifth signature shoe draws from the OG “Fire Red,” but adds deconstructed details and a potent patina for a bold, conceptual look.
Taking a similar design construction as the “Muslin” version, this deconstructed Air Jordan 5 is certainly eye-catching. The sail nylon upper is reminiscent of a vintage “Fire Red” 5, just as the “Muslin” referenced the “Black Metallic.” Holes have been placed across the shoe, with a cutout on the tongue as well as the mesh mid-panel. A black midsole comes complete with red accents, with the aged yellow sole unit bringing this shoe to a close. You can find all of Abloh’s signature details on here, from the text on the laces to the zip tag.
While an exact date hasn’t been confirmed, Jordan Brand reports that the Sail Off-White x Air Jordan 5 will release during the holiday season. Stick with FitMySole for updates as they become available.
